A Sad Announcement: The People of Hope was recently approved as private
association of the faithful This "new day" for the People of Hope is
a constant reminder |
The Bergen Record in 1985 had an article written about the Hope community. The following is a quote from that article: "State and federal authorities are examining tax records to determine whether Hope leader Robert Gallic and others improperly used group funds collected for religious purposes to finance the spacious homes they now own in a Warren Township development known as Mary Street or to help by homes for other members... Robert Gallic said in a telephone interview that community funds were not used for home financing." There is an inconsistency between this statement and the letter written below. The following letter is a history of the development of the homes on Mary Street in Warren Township, New Jersey. While it is our policy to try and mask names, it was impossible to do so on this document from the community leadership. Please note that paragraph four contains an admission that money was used from a non-profit evangelistic fund to purchase the land on which the houses were built. The above signatures are from the three "head coordinators" of the group at that time.
